U.S. Tops Russia, 3-1, In Third World Juniors Game


OSTRAVA, Czech Republic – A two-goal effort from Arthur Kaliyev (Staten Island, N.Y.) and 25 saves from Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) fueled the U.S. National Junior Team to a 3-1 win over Russia in its third preliminary-round game of the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship here tonight at Ostravar Arena.

Nick Robertson (Northville, Mich.) also scored in the win, and Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.) picked up two assists. Zegras’ seven assists in three games leads all skaters in the tournament.

Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.), Jack Drury (Winnetka, Ill.) and Mattias Samuelsson (Voorhees, N.J.) also tallied assists in the victory.
