Throughout the 2024 Under-18 Men’s World Championship in Finland, the daily Insider will allow you to get to know a few members of Team USA in any particular “Finnish The…” category of the day! Your first edition is with goaltender Nick Kempf.
If I were stranded on an island and could bring three things, they’d be… a football, some food and maybe a golf club, work on my game a little bit. Wait, I’d need a ball. No football, a golf ball.
The best ‘Chel player on the team is… Noah Lapointe. He plays a lot so he should be up there. I know he’s pretty good.
My best friend on the team is… probably Noah Lapointe again. Chicago guys.
My favorite piece of equipment is… my helmet. I get to customize a lot of my gear, but I can make that more personal and really do whatever I want.
When I need a sugar buzz, I reach for… probably a popsicle, an ice pop. I don’t eat ice cream, popsicles are really the only dessert I eat. The red, white and blue ones.
To win gold, our team has to… I think we have to buy into our systems and rely on one another. We can’t worry about what’s happened this year, we know that we’re a good team and can do it now.
