LeBron James is changing his jersey number from No. 23 to No. 6 next season, league sources tell The Athletic, while his Los Angeles Lakers co-star Anthony Davis will remain No. 3. The change comes two seasons after James first considered it when Anthony Davis was initially traded to the Lakers.
In summer 2019, James posted an Instagram posing with Davis and presenting him with his own Lakers jersey featuring No. 23, planning to give him the number Davis had worn his whole career and switch to No. 6, which James had worn while playing for the Miami Heat.
