The Miami Heat generally try to play team basketball, but in Game 2, they relied on “Herro ball.”
Tyler Herro made six three-pointers, scored 24 points and delivered 14 assists as the Heat stunned the Celtics in Game 2 of their first-round series, 111-101. The Heat did their damage from deep, setting a team record with 23 three-pointers, as they evened the series 1-1 without Jimmy Butler or Terry Rozier.
The last of those came from Caleb Martin, who had a dominant series last season when the No. 8 seed Heat upset the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. Wednesday night he shot 4-of-5 from three, including a shot over Jaylen Brown with three minutes to go.
Miami also got a huge game from Bam Adebayo, who was on the receiving end of many of those Herro dimes.
Now the Celtics, a dominant regular-season team, have lost home-court advantage in the first round against a team that knocked out a No. 1 seed in the first round last year.
While he was in trade rumors all summer, after this huge game, the Heat are glad they were holding out for a Herro.
