Zion Williamson’s first All-Star selection highlights sophomore season growth


Feb. 23, 2021, most likely will not be a date Zion Williamson remembers once his NBA career is over. It probably won’t even be a date he remembers once this season is over.

But it will go down as one of the most significant days of his career.

The New Orleans Pelicans star made history — again — on Tuesday, receiving the first All-Star selection of his career. He became only the 10th player in NBA history to receive the honor before reaching his 21st birthday.

It was another major milestone for a phenom who has become one of the NBA’s most dominant figures before even completing his first full season as a pro.

A year ago Tuesday, Williamson was set to play only the 12th game of his career. After missing the first half of the year due to knee surgery, his rookie campaign got off to a delayed start.
