Tucker Carlson says Washington Post contacting his 'old college classmates' looking for dirt

Fox News host Tucker Carlson said on his show Tuesday night that The Washington Post has been reaching out to his “old college classmates” trying to dig up dirt for a potential story.

Mr. Carlson slammed Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos and the paper’s media critic, Erik Wemple, after he said the paper had been reaching out to people he hadn’t spoken to in decades.

“We spent today hearing from quite a few old college classmates, in some cases people we have been out of touch with for 30 years,” the prime-time host told viewers. “It was nice, but here was the occasion for it. Jeff Bezos had one of his minions, a mentally unbalanced middle-aged man called Erik Wemple, pull our dusty college yearbook and call around and see if we’d done anything naughty at the age of 19.

“That sounds like fun,” he remarked. “Let us know if you hear any good stories.”

Mr. Wemple declined to respond to Mr. Carlson‘s comments when reached by The Washington Times.

Mr. Carlson continued his monologue by inviting Mr. Bezos on the show to “reminisce” about the 1980s.

“But before Bezos drops any more of his billions on opposition research, you should know that it will not affect any election outcome,” he said. “This is a news show, it’s not a political campaign. No one here is running for anything or plans to. On the other hand, if Jeff Bezos wants to come over to reminisce about 1987 on this show, he’s always welcome, anytime.”

Mr. Bezos did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
