In a ‘Drag Race’ First, the ‘All Stars’ Season 9 Queens Will Compete for Charity

Season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race may have just ended this past Friday, but viewers won’t have to wait long to start their engines once more. The cast of All Stars season nine just dropped, and what’s more, they’ll be competing for charity for the first time ever.

The Drag Race YouTube channel first announced the cast in a live YouTube premiere on Tuesday. While season eight of All Stars featured a dozen queens, season 9 is taking a slightly more pared-down approach, with only eight contestants. Premiering on Paramount+ with two episodes on May 17, this season of All Stars will feature: Angeria Paris VanMicheals, Gottmik, Jorgeous, Nina West, Plastique Tiara, Roxxxy Andrews, Shannel, and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo.

Each contestant selected a charitable organization to receive $200,000 should they come out on top. The prize money is provided by the Palette Fund, a private foundation “dedicated to breaking down barriers and advancing social change in communities that are under-resourced and facing significant challenges,” per a press release from Paramount+.

The competitors announced their casting with coordinated Instagram posts on Tuesday, posting short reels of themselves posing in drag in a shiny mirrored room.
