Authorities in Liberty County, Montana, report that three people have been killed and at least 50 injured in a derailment that took place near Joplin, Montana around 4:00 PM MT on September 26, 2021. According to a statement from Amtrak, the train was carrying 146 passengers and 16 crew members.

The train consisted of two locomotives and 10 Superliner passenger cars. Seven of those cars derailed, some landing on their sides along the track.
