Three Anthony Davis questions regarding his looming return to Lakers

It’s been 66 days and counting since Anthony Davis last suited up in the purple and gold.

After 30 consecutive missed games, and 35 missed games overall, Davis is expected to make his return to the Lakers from his right calf strain and right Achilles tendonosis injuries against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday or Saturday.

With Davis’ return approaching, here are three questions:

How is Davis affected by the time off?

When he steps on the floor in Dallas, Davis will have missed over two months of the 2020-21 season. At most, he will play in 51.4 percent of the games this season. In a sense, he’s missed a basketball eternity.

Every player responds to injuries and time off differently. For Davis, there will be an adjustment period with both his conditioning and his confidence in his right leg. It could take a game, or it could take a few.
