Chicken and waffles, toast, biscuits (duh), fresh fruit, tea . . . there are very few things honey doesn’t pair well with. While honey can be a nice change up to your typical butter or condiment routine, it can also get a little mundane after awhile. Luckily, hot honey is becoming more and more popular, and there’s a good reason why: it’s absolutely delicious.

To make our own, we used Mike Hultquist’s recipe from Chili Pepper Madness. His hot pepper honey is infused with habanero peppers and dried red peppers, and is extremely easy to make (three ingredients and 10 minutes is all it takes). Whether you like to drizzle or dip, this hot honey is sure to kick your condiment game up a notch. Interested? Get the recipe below!

Hot Honey Recipe and Photos

Ingredients

  1. 4-5 habanero peppers, roughly chopped (remove seeds if desired)
4-5 small dried peppers, roughly chopped
    12 ounces honey

Directions

  1. In a small pot, simmer peppers and honey on medium heat for five minutes. This will allow the natural pepper flavor and heat to infuse into the honey.
  2. Remove hot honey from heat and let cool.
  3. Over a mason jar or glass container of your choosing, strain the infused honey through a fine mesh sieve. Toss out the peppers.
  4. Enjoy on biscuits, fried chicken, ice cream, with hot water and lemon, and much more!
