The Ncuti Gatwa-led 'Doctor Who' Looks Like It'll Be the Queerest One Yet

Brace yourself, Doctor Who stans: A new trailer for the upcoming Ncuti Gatwa-led season is here, and it’s shaping up to be a very wild, very queer ride.

Set to David Bowie’s “Changes,” the trailer opens where last year’s Christmas special left off, as the Doctor (played by Gatwa) sets off for another journey through time and space, this time with his new companion, Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) by his side. Along the way, they encounter dinosaurs, a Regency ball straight out of Bridgerton, the Beatles, and maybe even the end of the world.

“There are powers beyond the universe so vast, the whole world could slide into the pit,” the Doctor says in voiceover, as apocalyptic visions of London flash on screen. “This is what we’re trying to stop.”

The trailer also features a glimpse of Drag Race star Jinkx Monsoon’s character, who sports a piano-themed costume and seemingly imprisons Ruby in menacing three-dimensional musical notes.

“✨Everything is possible✨,” Jinkx wrote in an Instagram post sharing the new preview. “🎹My @bbcdoctorwho era is coming ⛈️.”
