Among Us, a multiplayer online strategy game that exploded in popularity in late 2020, will be available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles December 14, its developer Innersloth announced Thursday.

Among Us, which so far has only been available on mobile devices, PCs and the Nintendo Switch, was first released in 2018 but became a viral hit last year.
Per Nielsen’s SuperData, half a billion users played the game last November, the highest monthly total for a game to date.
Gameplay is simple, as a group of “crewmates” race in a space setting to complete tasks without getting killed by “imposters,” who can get voted out if they are not subtle in their sabotage.

264 million. That’s how many people worldwide downloaded Among Us on iOS and Android devices in 2020, making it the most popular game in the world, according to data from mobile intelligence company Apptopia.

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez famously streamed herself playing Among Us on Twitch last October, encouraging her audience to vote for Democrats in the 2020 election. Playing with Rep. Ilhan Omar and famous Among Us streamers, Ocasio’s gameplay attracted 700,000 viewers on Twitch.
