Prior to the Sixers’ loss in Game 7 to the Atlanta Hawks, Doc Rivers was asked what he thought decides a do-or-die game.
“Execution and trust, at the end of the day,” Rivers said. “Trusting what you did all year, not getting away from it. I think in the games that I’ve won, my team for the most part stayed in what they had and trusted. And in the games they lost, for the most part, they didn’t.”
The Sixers played Game 7 on their home floor because they had the best record in the Eastern Conference. After a joyless, clunky 2019-20 season, Daryl Morey wasted no time in tweaking the roster around Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris.
