Roger Federer excites fans as he responds to Rafael Nadal's doubles request

The 20-time Grand Slam champions were also set to join forces in Geneva in 2019, but Nadal suffered a hand injury that left him unable to play on the final day and Federer was joined by Stefanos Tsitsipas instead.

It seems that both players aren’t ready to give up just yet, eyeing a return to next year’s Laver Cup to reunite once more on the same side of the court.

Their Instagram stories come as a positive sign given the pair’s respective injury woes in recent months, hinting that both will be ready to compete in a year’s time.

Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg also seemed keen to have the Swiss player back in the squad next year.

“Of course one of our team-mates Roger Federer is here this week, supporting the team,” he said, during his victory speech in Sunday’s trophy presentation.

He continued: “I think you’re still in Team Europe, I hope you are, and I hope you come back soon and play tennis.”
