Report: Tristan Thompson drawing trade interest from multiple contenders

Tristan Thompson might be poised to add to his total of four career NBA Finals appearances.

Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reported Tuesday that the Cleveland Cavaliers big man is generating “plenty” of interest from contending teams around the NBA. Fedor adds that there is a widespread belief that the Cavs are selling off veterans, especially after this month’s trade of guard Jordan Clarkson.

The 28-year-old Thompson, who is making $18.5 million in the final year of his contract, is averaging a double-double for the second straight season with 12.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He has been a career Cav since being drafted by Cleveland No. 4 overall in 2011.

Thompson’s skill set is well-known around the league — he is an energy big who extends possessions and defends the interior, making him a valuable potential commodity to many a playoff team. The veteran also knows how to provide the postseason intensity, as he has demonstrated in the past.
