Niecy Nash Doesn’t Care if She Lost Fans Over Her Gay Marriage

“I’m not limiting myself on what that love is supposed to look like,” she said. “I’ve done everything I wanted to do on my own terms and my own way. So my choice now in a partner has nothing to do with who I’ve always been. It’s a matter of who I am in this moment.”

Earlier this month the actress was featured in Betts’ heartwarming music video “Catch Me,” which shows the newlyweds spending time together on a beach while dancing and laughing. Nash is donning her wedding dress while Betts sports a gray suit, and the video includes recordings of Nash and Betts saying their wedding vows.

While Nash deflects haters, she is busy making waves with her career. Although the actress will soon be wrapping up her time as Desna Simms, a nail salon owner in Manatee County, Florida, in TNT’s Claws, with the show ending its run after its fourth season, Nash is in talks to host her own daytime television talk show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show will be produced by CBS Television Distribution, the same company behind shows such as The Drew Barrymore Show, Judge Judy, Dr. Phil, ET, Rachael Ray, and The Doctors. The program stands to join a team of syndicated daytime talk shows hosted by stars such as Ellen Degeneres, Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall, and Wendy Williams.

If greenlit, the show will see a return for Nash as a host, having previously hosted the Style Network’s home makeover and interior design television series, Clean House, from 2003 to 2010. The actress has most recently guest-hosted for series including Today and Access Hollywood Live.

Aside from Claws, Nash’s recent acting credits include Reno 911!, Mrs. America, Scream Queens, Never Have I Ever, The Soul Man, and Getting On, the latter of which earned the star two Emmy nominations. She would nab a third for When They See Us.
