NBA Board of Governors approves plan to restart the NBA season


The NBA’s Board of Governors have approved the 22-team format to resume the 2019-20 season, sources tell The Athletic.

As expected, the board voted on Thursday to approve the proposed plan for a restart to the NBA season that will take place at the Walt Disney World resort just outside of Orlando. Only the Portland Trail Blazers voted against the proposal, sources tell Charania.

Sources say that the NBA informed the board of the following scheduled dates:

– Players located internationally return to market: June 15

– All players report: June 21

– Coronavirus testing begins: June 22

– Training camp: June 30-July 7 travel to Orlando

– 2019-20 season: July 31

– Free agency: Oct. 18

– 2020-21 target dates: Nov. 10 training camp, Dec. 1 opening night, which can remain fluid
