Mitch McConnell says 'no concerns' after photos of apparently bruised hands, face go viral

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday there are “no concerns” surrounding his health after photos of his apparently bruised hands and face went viral.

Multiple photos circulating on social media showed Mr. McConnell on Capitol Hill Wednesday with significant bruises and several bandages on his hands and what appeared to be a bruise on his upper lip.

“Do you have some kind of health issue?” Politico reporter John Bresnahan asked the 78-year-old Republican senator Thursday, BuzzFeed reported. “Everyone been’s talking about your hands.”

“I’ve been worried about your health, Bres. How are you feeling?” Mr. McConnell responded.

“But I’m serious, is there anything going on we should know about?” Mr. Bresnahan asked.

“Of course not,” replied Mr. McConnell.

The senator gave CNN the same treatment later in the day, simply stating, “No concerns,” the outlet reported.

Mr. McConnell, who is up for reelection, has otherwise been conducting his regular business on the Hill this week and spoke on the Senate floor Thursday in support of Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett.
