Miami has gone 12-14 after its 24-8 start — so what’s wrong with the Heat?


MIAMI — In the past week, the Heat have lost three out of four to lottery-bound teams. Since making their 3-for-3 trade with the Grizzlies just before the All-Star break, Miami has lost six of eight.

Remember the end of 2019 when everything was coming up aces for this young Heat squad at 24-8, the third-best record in the NBA?

They haven’t been the same since.

And if they don’t figure out their issues soon, well, Goran Dragic summed it up perfectly.

“With this type of game, we don’t have a chance in the playoffs,” Dragic said.

Don’t worry, the Heat are still on course for the postseason. But with 24 games left, their chances of moving past the Celtics (five games behind) for third place in the Eastern Conference or the Raptors (six games behind) for second place are slim.

And they’ve squandered chances to put some distance between themselves and the wounded Sixers for fourth place and that precious home-court…
