Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen is in the midst of a record-setting night at Remington Park. Lady Apple (6-5), owned by Phoenix Thoroughbreds and KatieRich Stables, gave the trainer his sixth win from nine races on the card thus far in the Grade 3 Remington Park Oaks, defeating 1-2 favorite Gold Standard by a half-length on the wire. The 3-year-old daughter of Curlin, ridden like the other five winners by Ricardo Santana, Jr., ran 1 1/16 miles over the fast main track in 1:43.65.
The six wins is a new all-time record for wins on one race card at Remington Park.
Asmussen broke a mark of five wins that he had achieved three other times. He shared the mark of five with Wade White who had five winners on a program in 1993 at Remington Park.
In addition to the six winners, Asmussen also saddled four second-place finishers.
