Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers are the bookies’ early favourites to replace Jose Mourinho after his Tottenham sacking… with Steven Gerrard and Massimiliano Allegri also in contention
RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann is the early favourite to become the new Tottenham boss after Jose Mourinho was ruthlessly axed on Monday.
According to Betfair, Nagelsmann leads the way with Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers second and Spurs hero Ledley King third.
Masimilliano Allegri is fourth on the list with Rangers manager and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard an eye-catching name in the running.

Mourinho was unceremoniously dumped by Tottenham on Monday morning just six days away from the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley.
Nagelsmann was linked with the Tottenham job last year before they eventually moved for the Portuguese boss.
It was reported in German media last week that Nagelsmann, 33, has a release clause worth £17m in his contract at Leipzig – news which might deter Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
Leicester, meanwhile, would be eager not to lose manager Rodgers to a direct rival and one that they have usurped from contention for European places in recent seasons.
He too would likely command a hefty fee to remove from his deal at Leicester, where he has a contract that runs until 2025.
King is a surprise name linked to the vacancy but he has been working alongside Mourinho at Tottenham. The former England defender, 40, currently is assistant first-team coach.
Allegri, meanwhile, would represent a cheaper option with elite-level pedigree, having won six Serie A titles in his time as a manager in Italy – one with Milan and five with Juventus. He is currently without a club.
Gerrard has enjoyed his finest season as a manager yet after guiding Rangers to the Scottish league title at the expense of fierce rivals Celtic, who were going for an unprecedented 10 in a row.

Gerrard has long been mooted as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and his desire to one day become manager at his boyhood club is well known.
Would Spurs chairman Daniel Levy want to appoint someone who is so closely associated with a rival? And would Gerrard want to work for a boss who is a notoriously stern negotiator and would almost certainly stand in his way if Liverpool came calling?
For the time being, Chris Powell and Ryan Mason will see out the season at Tottenham and they start with a baptism of fire in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday.
