The deal: Thaddeus Young signs three-year, $41 million deal to join the Chicago Bulls

The Bulls wanted veteran leadership to go with that young core, and that’s exactly what they get with Young. This will essentially be the third time Young is asked to take on this role with a younger core. He did it in Minnesota after the Kevin Love trade. He did it in Indiana as he helped a core of Victor Oladipo, Myles Turner, and Domantas Sabonis get on track. Now he’ll do it with the Bulls as their young core of Zach LaVine, Wendell Carter Jr, Lauri Markkanen, Coby White, Otto Porter (is he young still?), and others try to figure out how to win more basketball games.

Young is a versatile defender, and this team certainly needs defense. They finished 25th in the NBA in defensive rating. He’s also one of the best cutters in the NBA.
