For the second time in three seasons, the Lakers’ season hinges on a superstar’s groin.
As Anthony Davis crumpled to the floor after missing a layup and landing awkwardly with 48 seconds left in the first half, the power dynamic of the Lakers-Suns series, which seemed decidedly in the Lakers’ favor after their 2-1 series lead and a double-digit lead in the second quarter of Game 4, once again shifted toward Phoenix.
Davis, who entered the game with a sprained left knee, missed the second half of the Lakers’ 100-92 Game 4 loss with a left groin strain. He is day-to-day, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania. With the series tied 2-2, Tuesday’s Game 5 in Phoenix is pivotal, and the Lakers might not have Davis.
