Harry Reid says Lindsey Graham 'went to the dark side' after McCain died: 'I sure hope he loses'

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on Election Day that he’s rooting against his former colleague, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, because of the way he’s cozied up to President Trump in the past two years.

“It’s very hard for me to say this because Lindsey and I have worked together on stuff, but when John McCain died he just went to the dark side, was happy playing golf with Donald Trump,” the Nevada Democrat told MSNBC Tuesday.

“I hope that Lindsey loses,” he added. “That’s difficult for me to say, but I sure hope he loses.”

Mr. Reid made similar comments last week on Peacock TV’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show,” lamenting that he used to appreciate Mr. Graham for “being a rebel” like McCain.

“I changed because the facts change,” he said Thursday. “Lindsey Graham used to be independent. He was a rebel with John McCain. With John McCain passing, he became a sycophant for Donald Trump, goes golfing with him and says all these nice things about him.

“It’s hard for me to say this, but I hope that Lindsey loses the race,” he said. “Cause he certainly deserves to. I lost such respect for him, for how he’s become a lap dog for Donald Trump.”

Mr. Graham is running for reelection against Democrat Jaime Harrison in South Carolina.
