Emma Raducanu beats Rafael Nadal and Naomi Osaka in 2021 standings

It means the Bromley teenager takes home more in prize money than four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka for 2021, who earned less as USD$2,306,222 (£1,742,846.79) despite winning the first Major of the year at the Australian Open.

Raducanu also pocketed more than 20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, who still finished the year at world No 6 despite ending his season with injury ahead of the US Open, and earned USD$1,478,830 (£1,117,574.16) through results including the Barcelona title and French Open semi-final.

The US Open champion’s stunning rise has also reflected in her ranking, as she rose 324 places from the start of the season to the end.

At the beginning of 2021, Raducanu was ranked at world No 343, and has ended the year inside the world’s top 20 at No 19.

It’s the second-highest jump for a WTA player this season behind Ana Konjuh, who rose 472 spots from world No 558 to No 66 during her comeback from an elbow surgery she underwent in September 2017, having previously been ranked as high as world No 20.
