For all that this pandemic has stolen from us, it has at least provided these rare moments of beloved chaos: a fall NBA Finals, the Masters in November and an everybody-into-the-pool type of expanded baseball playoffs.
This strange new world was never more evident than Wednesday, when a tennis Grand Slam, a record eight MLB playoff games and the NBA Finals converged on the same day for the first time, well, ever. And to think, we could’ve had a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday night, too. Nevertheless, I spent 20 hours on the couch Wednesday in the name of journalism.
From the first serve at Roland Garros at 5 a.m. until the last pitch between the Brewers and Dodgers, for the sake of employment and a fun story idea, I’m willing to consume it all. Well, almost all.
