Dolphins at Bills spread, odds, picks and trends: Expert predictions for NFL Week 8 game

Buffalo’s four-game winning streak came to an end just before its bye week in a 34-31 loss to the Titans. Josh Allen had 353 passing yards and three touchdowns in that game, but was tripped up on fourth-and-short from the Titans’ 3 with 22 seconds remaining. It’s hard to fault the Bills on playing for the win instead of going to overtime on the road against Derrick Henry. The first time Buffalo lost this year, it turned around and throttled Miami 35-0. Two weeks after their second loss, the Bills host the Dolphins. They’ve averaged 38.7 points in their past six games against Miami and opened as 12.5-point favorites.

For a second consecutive week, Tua Tagovailoa had a strong showing marred by a loss. The second-year quarterback had 291 passing yards and a career-high four touchdowns. What was an impressive performance ended up being a silver lining to another defeat? The Dolphins scored 14 unanswered points to take a fourth-quarter lead before allowing the Falcons to go 57 yards in nine plays for a game-winning kick. This week, we’ll find out how much of Tagovailoa’s improvement was a product of playing the Falcons and Jaguars (Michael Salfino wrote on Tagovailoa’s hidden upside here). Buffalo owns the league’s top passing defense and allows the second-fewest points.
