It’s Britney the fiancée, bitch.
Over the weekend, the singer announced on Instagram (as she is wont to do) that she’s now engaged to her longtime beau, actor Sam Asghari.
In the video, Spears playfully feigns shock and covers her mouth with her hand to show off her engagement ring while Asghari holds the camera in selfie mode (as he should be wont to do, too!). She captioned the post alongside six ring emojis, with a simple, surprised message: “I can’t fucking believe it!”
How exciting! After the year(s) Spears has had, I’m simply happy to see her so happy. But you know who voiced their concerns? Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer, naturally.
Among all the well-wishes and heart emojis from celebrities that flooded Spears’ comments, Spencer’s reaction stood out for its bluntness. The star of Truth Be Told told the damn truth when she commented on Spears’ post with one sentence and no punctuation: “Make him sign a prenup.” (We added that period, FYI.)
Welp! As of Monday evening, Spencer’s comment has nearly 70,000 likes. Welp!!
Asghari, ever the seemingly nice guy, responded directly to Spencer’s comment with a 100 emoji. Later, he addressed the advice directly on his Instagram story. “Thank you everyone who is concerned about The prenup! Of course we’re getting [an] iron clad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day,” he wrote with two crying laughing emojis.
Well, there you have it. Still, Spears had more gushing over her fiancé to do on Monday. She followed up the engagement announcement by posting of a shirtless Asghari from his new Men’s Health photoshoot, accompanied by a caption explaining just how much she loves her man… but does not love his lateness!
“Words can’t even say how shocked I am,” she wrote. “Geez although the asshole was way overdue.” She then goes on to say “that beautiful fucking man in that picture is MINE!!!”
Asghari, who is really proving himself to be a team sport, also commented on this post. This man loves a comment! “Wayyyyyyy overdueee,” he simply said.
Well, cheers to the happy couple. In case you’re wondering, Spears has previously been married twice. She notoriously married her childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004 at a Las Vegas ceremony. The marriage reportedly lasted just 55 hours before being annulled.
Later that year, Spears married again, this time to dancer Kevin Federline. Together, they are parents to two boys, Sean and Jayden However, Spears and Federline’s marriage ended in 2007. She was also engaged to her former agent Jason Trawick in 2011 before ending their engagement in 2013.
It’s nice to see Spears take a moment for herself this week amid her conservatorship battle. The latest public update on the legal proceedings is her father Jamie Spears filed a petition to end her conservatorship last week. Here’s hoping there are many more good days in Britney’s near future.
