2023 Golden Globes: Jennifer Coolidge’s Best Moments on Stage

As if that wasn’t relatable enough, Coolidge’s list of reasons why she thought she would be a terrible presenter included the fear of slipping and falling on the way to the podium, of being unable to read the teleprompter, and of accidentally mispronouncing someone’s name. Of course, her very public recap of this internal monologue actually made her the perfect presenter.

Coolidge also won a Globe herself, nabbing the honor of best actress in a limited series for her role as Tanya McQuoid in season two of The White Lotus. Naturally, her acceptance speech was equally iconic.

Alluding to the fact that her critical appraisal is long overdue, Coolidge said, “I had such big dreams and expectations as a younger person, but what happened is they get sort of fizzled by life. I thought I was going to be queen of Monaco even though someone else did it.”

“And then you get older and think, ‘Oh, what the fuck is going to happen?” Coolidge continued.

As it turned out, it was White Lotus showrunner Mike White who gave Coolidge hope. “You’ve given me a new beginning… You changed my life in a million different ways,” she said, making White himself tear up.

Let the record show that Jennifer Coolidge has long enjoyed icon status among the queer community. Thank the heavens that the rest of the world is finally catching up.
