Wizards’ Russell Westbrook plays in Game 3; Sixers take 3-0 series lead

Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook played Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers despite entering Game 3 as questionable with a right ankle sprain, but his presence couldn’t stop the Sixers from a 132-103 win. With the victory, Philadelphia took a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference first-round series.

Westbrook was a game-time decision entering Saturday’s game but finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in 34 minutes. Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 36 points on 14 of 18 from the field.

Westbrook had to leave in the fourth quarter of the Wizards’ Game 2 loss on Wednesday with the injury. As he left Wednesday’s game and walked back to the locker room, a Sixers fan threw popcorn on him. Westbrook had to be restrained from going after the fan, who was stripped of his season tickets and banned indefinitely from all events at Wells Fargo Arena.
