Davis Bertans is 6-foot-10 — technically.
The Wizards inserted him into their starting lineup for Game 3 against the 76ers after a week of dealing with Philadelphia’s unrelenting size advantage. Bertans is tall. The incumbent, Raul Neto, is not. Problem solved.
Sort of.
Bertans guarded the 6-foot-2 Seth Curry from the tip, a job a tinier player could do, too. He’s not a physical power forward. He doesn’t use his length to disrupt passing or driving lanes. He’s towering, but he’d be the same type of defender if he were 5 inches shorter. Even with Bertans’ presence, the Wizards had at least one massive size disadvantage the 76ers knew how to exploit at all times.
