Wizards-Hornets preview: Bradley Beal component and are Celtics or Pacers a better play-in matchup?

The Wizards’ final game is their biggest one.

If they beat the Hornets on Sunday, they will earn the No. 8 seed outright and would play seventh-seeded Boston on Tuesday. The winner of that game would get the No. 7 seed in the NBA playoffs and play second-seeded Brooklyn in the first round. If they lose, the Hornets grab eighth and drop the Wiz to ninth or 10th, where they would play the Pacers. The winner of that game would play the loser of the Boston-Charlotte game for the last playoff spot and a date with top-seeded Philadelphia in the first round.

The bottom three teams in the play-in tournament — Washington, Charlotte and Indiana — enter the last day of the regular season tied for eighth. Boston has already clinched seventh, the top spot in the tourney.

Sunday is the biggest day for the Wizards in years. National NBA columnist David Aldridge and Wizards beat reporter Fred Katz of The Athletic discuss it.
