Wimbledon 2022 LIVE: Nick Kyrgios fuming with umpire against Stefanos Tsitsipas and Rafael Nadal underway

Digitally cleared daily wrap from 2022 Wimbledon Championships

Rafael Nadal and the match between Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas highlight the late action on Day 6 at Wimbledon after an afternoon of upsets at SW19.

World No 1 Iga Swiatek is out after Alize Cornet snapped her 37-match win streak with a 6-4 6-2 victory. It came after Coco Gauff was eliminated by Amanda Anisimova, who clinched a 6-7 6-2 6-1 win over her fellow American.

Earlier, Katie Boulter faced Harmony Tan in the opening match of the day on Court No 2 and was thrashed 6-1 6-1 in just 51 minutes. Tan, who shocked Serena Williams with a memorable win in the opening round, blitzed the Brit as she surged to victory.

Liam Broady is also out after a straight sets defeat to the impressive Alex De Minaur – Boulter’s boyfriend – who saw off a late fight from the 28-year-old British wildcard to take a 6-4 6-4 7-6 win.

Elsewhere, Kyrgios faces Tsitsipas in a blockbuster clash last up on Court No 1. Kyrgios produced a faultless performance to destroy Filip Krajinovic in the second round and a shock could be on the cards if the fiery Australian can get in the zone once again.

Wimbledon: *Lorenzo Sonego 1-6, 2-6, 4-5 Rafael Nadal

Superb from Nadal to club a backhand winner and snatch a break.

He’ll serve for the match.

Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios 4-4 Stefanos Tsitsipas* (6-7, 6-4, 6-3)

We’re having the roof closed now before the set resumes, so there will be a delay of a few minutes.

Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios 4-4 Stefanos Tsitsipas* (6-7, 6-4, 6-3)

Lovely rally between the two at the start of the game and Kyrgios’ attempted through-the-legs return on the run doesn’t quite come off. Tsitsipas then challenges an out call and he’s correct, before winning the next point too.

Three break points…which start with Kyrgios whipping one into the far corner.

Next it’s another of those unstoppable serves, and then another. Deuce. Great response and he doesn’t stop there, powering through to take the game. Sensational.

Wimbledon: *Lorenzo Sonego 1-6, 2-6, 4-4 Rafael Nadal

Nadal unhappy at something as the players debate at the net. Then a long discussion with the umpire.

Wimbledon: Lorenzo Sonego 1-6, 2-6, 4-4 Rafael Nadal*

Maybe the biggest cheer of the night: Sonego at full stretch as Nadal approaches the net and he makes the pass, spinning on his back as the crowd erupts.

Then he steps into a fine forehand winner, 0-30 and clear momentum.

Then a bullet sent back to Nadal for 0-40 and three break points secured.

He’s got it! 4-4 and Sonego laps up the celebrations.

Wimbledon: *Nick Kyrgios 3-4 Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-7, 6-4, 6-3)

Tsitsipas getting himself into bother early on in a service game again – Kyrgios takes the first two points, then whips a lovely passing shot down the line for 15-40. Two break points – can he make them count this time?

Tsitsipas’ first service is good despite a frankly outrageous challenge call by Kyrgios, then the next point is a rally which ends in a volley at the net to make it deuce.

Add in an ace for advantage and another long return, and Tsitsipas has yet again pulled himself back from the brink.

Wimbledon: *Lorenzo Sonego 1-6, 2-6, 3-4 Rafael Nadal

We’re back underway, a double fault from Sonego to open things up.

But he’s soon back to 15-15.

A cry of relief there, an ace and back to 4-3 down.

Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios 3-3 Stefanos Tsitsipas* (6-7, 6-4, 6-3)

More fury from Kyrgios between games, but again both players are maintaining focus on-court once the action resumes.

Tsitsipas holds, then tries to gain an advantage in the next game with a cute lob which Kyrgios returns with fire. The following point is the Greek’s after a great passing shot, but yet again the Australian’s service is just too good. Another ace makes it 3-3.

Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios 2-2 Stefanos Tsitsipas* (6-7, 6-4, 6-3)

Routine stuff in the next game as Tsitsipas wins his own service game, the highlight being a neat backhand dropping over the net.

Kyrgios continues to serve extremely well though and again holds his own.

Wimbledon: *Lorenzo Sonego 1-6, 2-6, 2-4 Rafael Nadal

Nadal might be in breathtaking form, but he’s not quick enough to polish this off before the roof comes on.

We’ll have a small break now.
