Where does Seahawks defense go from here?: MSD’s morning after the morning after


You can take the temperature of the Seahawks defense simply by reading the team captain’s body language after games. Bobby Wagner is not available after every contest, but his few podium sessions have been informative. When Seattle escaped against Dallas in Week 3, Wagner was clearly perturbed because the defense just barely held up its end of the bargain. His answers were short; he appeared allergic to smiling and generally uncomfortable, which is understandable for a player who has never played on a defense this bad.

Wagner was in a similar mood after Seattle’s 37-34 overtime loss Sunday night. The Seahawks once again had a double-digit fourth-quarter lead because the offense was on fire, but the Arizona offense was on fire, too. The home team stacked up 519 yards, averaged 6.4 yards per play and erased a 10-point deficit with scoring drives of 75 and 54 yards to end regulation.
