The Suns won the first two games of the NBA Finals and, at separate points, led by six, nine, 16 and seven points the other four games. Games 4 and 5 will sting the most, in retrospect. If a late-game possession or two ends differently — a Deandre Ayton lob isn’t blocked, Devin Booker hits a jumper instead of turning into Jrue Holiday’s strip — they might be champs. It was right there.
But the details will fade in the weeks and months and years ahead. The history books will read Bucks, not Suns. That’s unchanging. Phoenix’s franchise remains without a title.
