What seventh-round pick Jordan Brailford can bring to the Redskins


With their final pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected edge rusher Jordan Brailford out of Oklahoma State. At 6 foot 3, 252 pounds, Brailford is an impressive looking athlete and timed well at the combine with a 4.65 second 40-yard dash, 10th fastest of all edge rushers tested at the combine. That speed translates on the field too. Brailford’s best trait is his first step quickness. He can challenge tackles on the edge with speed rushes that cause tackles to either speed up their technique or fail to cut him off.

This is a good example of Brailford’s first step quickness. He gets a good jump and is the first defender to break the line of scrimmage. He gets level with the tackle by his third step, forcing the tackle to give up on his kick slide and open his hips to the sideline. The right tackle is unable to cut him off and Brailford turns the corner to force the quarterback off the spot.
