What is a putter's offset? And how does it affect your aim?

Putters come in all different shapes and sizes, and crucially, with a variety of different alignment aids. You may not think they carry much importance — that it’s more of a style-over-substance thing — but it couldn’t be further from the truth. The actual design of the putter can have a major effect on your aim.

As GOLF Top 100 Teacher Kevin Sprecher explains, offset is one of the biggest influences on aim. The more offset a putter has, the more left it’ll make you aim. Less offset, like golfers have with a center-shafted putter, and the more to the right golfers aim.
