FA Cup quarter-final fixture dates and TV channels confirmed

The Football Association has announced the fixture dates and TV channels for the FA Cup quarter-finals.

BT Sport will broadcast Everton’s game against Manchester City at 5.30pm on Saturday, March 20 and Bournemouth vs Southampton at 12.15pm.

Leicester’s clash with Manchester United will be shown live on BBC One at 5pm on Sunday, March 21 following Chelsea’s tie with Sheffield United at 1.30pm on the same channel.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rubbishes exit rumours

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has denied that he needs a break and insisted his team will turn around their poor run of form.

Liverpool conceded three late goals on Saturday to lose 3-1 to Leicester City and could drop out of the top four if Chelsea avoid defeat against Newcastle United on Monday evening.

“I don’t need a break, I am full of energy,” Klopp said at a press conference on Monday, ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig in Hungary.

Everton’s new £500m stadium plan should be approved – experts

Everton’s Bramley-Moore stadium plan should be approved according to a report by Liverpool city council planners. This represents a significant step forward for the £500 million waterfront project.

In the extensive 200-page report — prepared ahead of a formal meeting to decide on the club’s application — city experts say the proposal for a 52,888-capacity arena at the disused dock has “broad popular support overall” and that the “substantial public benefits far outweigh any heritage harm”.

The report will now be discussed and a final decision will be breached at the meeting of the planning committee on February 23.

Borussia Dortmund have appointed Marco Rose as their new manager

The Borussia Monchengladbach boss will join their Bundesliga rivals in the summer.

Rose, 44, played for Lokomotiv Leipzig, Hannover and Mainz during a 15-year playing career He went on to manage Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg before taking his current role at Monchengladbach.

Celtic say COVID-19 a ‘key factor’ for £6m loss and decrease in revenue

Celtic have revealed a pre-tax loss of nearly £6 million as the club’s revenue plummeted by almost a quarter.

The club’s half-year financial report showed revenues of £40.7 million — down from £53.3 million in 2019 — and a loss before taxation of £5.9 million.

Celtic’s chairman, Ian Bankier, identified the impact of COVID-19 as one of “two key factors” for the losses in the club’s half-year financial report.
