What Christian Wilkins’ return means for Dolphins, plus an update on Tua’s thumb


DAVIE, Fla. — As Dolphins players lined up row by row in stretch formation at the beginning of practice on Friday afternoon, the speakers around the team facility went from blaring explicit rap lyrics to “My Shot” from the Hamilton musical soundtrack.

Nearly the entire team reacted to the drastic change in music selection. Almost immediately, veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick knew who to jokingly blame. Fitzpatrick paused from stretching for a moment, stood from his spot and walked several yards over toward defensive lineman Christian Wilkins and pointed his fingers with the rest of their teammates laughing wildly.

Wilkins is officially back from his two-plus week stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Miami’s top defensive lineman returned to practice this week and so did Wilkins’ weekly edition of “Hamilton Friday,” a tribute to one of his favorite musicals.
