What Alabama C Ross Pierschbacher can offer the Redskins


The Redskins spent the first of their two fifth-round selections on Alabama center Ross Pierschbacher. The 6 foot 4, 307 pound center was the second interior offensive lineman they drafted, after they took Indiana’s Wes Martin in the fourth round. Here’s a closer look at what Pierschbacher can bring to the Redskins.

As a four-year starter at Alabama, Pierschbacher played significant snaps at all three interior spots. He’s able to be so versatile because of his football intelligence, which is easy to see when studying his play.

Offensive lineman are always taught to look for work, which means that if they aren’t blocking anyone, go find a defender to block. Some lineman will take plays off if they have nobody to block, but not Pierschbacher. He’ll look for work and go help his teammates.
