West Coast Powerhouse Remains On Top Week Two of #MyTopCollege

As week two of the #MyTopCollege campaign concludes, the leaderboard mirrors last week’s. The reigning #MyTopCollege champion, California State University-Fullerton, remains in the lead, while smaller schools like Widener University, Sweet Briar College and Otterbein University vie to unseat the mighty Cal State Fullerton.

While Cal State Fullerton is running away with the large school category (more than 15,000 students), the medium school division (2,000-15,000) remains tightly contested, with Widener University holding onto the lead, despite Otterbein University’s strong push. Sweet Briar College continues its reign in the small school category (less than 2,000), although Saint Francis University remains a contender.

The theme for this year’s competition is Time Travel. We want to hear your favorite college experiences, what makes your school special today and what you are most looking forward to in the coming months and years. To get your creative juices flowing, think about friendships, academic opportunities, travel, volunteering, sports, dorm life and more.

This week our topic was freshman year. Some of you focused on orientation, others the time your prof gave you back your first paper or new best friends. Some of this week’s best submissions focused on the first year opportunities.

Cal State Fullerton’s passion for athletics shone through this week, whether it was boasting about its varsity teams’ success or using sports as a way to kick back with friends.

The Sweet Briar community rejoiced over the strong community that it enjoys on campus, and the lasting friendships student formed during their freshman years.

The importance of relationships was apparent throughout the week, and one of the strongest bonds one can develop in their time at college is sisterhood. Submissions from Saint Francis University and Cal State Fullerton both reflected the positive memories from being in a sorority.

True to form with this week’s reflective topic, a poster for Widener University headed to the archives this week to look at when the university first began accepting female students.

The #MyTopCollege social media contest supplements Forbes’ annual Top Colleges rankings. We’re looking for your posts on Twitter and Instagram that tag both your school and use #MyTopCollege hashtag.
