This weekend’s graded stakes action is centered at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, with four stakes planned on the 11-race card. The highlight will be the G3 Harlan’s Holiday, featuring fan-favorite Bodexpress taking on Todd Pletcher trainee Prince Lucky and the hard-knocking War Story over 1 1/16 miles.
Earlier on the card, the G3 Sugar Swirl offers a contentious field of nine fillies and mares for the six-furlong sprint contest. Topping the morning-line odds is Lady’s Island at 5-2, a Florida-bred seeking her fifth win in a row. The G3 Rampart field is led by Baccarat Fashion, who is stepping up into graded company for the first time but has won her last two starts.
In the G2 Fort Lauderdale Stakes, Channel Cat has the edge on the morning line for trainer Todd Pletcher, but Chad Brown has a pair of entrants in Flavius and Instilled Regard.
Other stakes action around the country includes a pair of $500,000 New York-bred Stakes races at Aqueduct, the juvenile males’ race on Saturday and the filly edition on Sunday; Louisiana Champions Day at the Fair Grounds on Saturday; a pair of listed Florida-bred stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday; the $400,000 Springboard Mile offering Kentucky Derby points at Remington tops Sunday’s stakes action; and Woodbine’s closing day card on Sunday features the G3 Valedictory Stakes.
