Watch Zendaya in New Euphoria Trailer for Rue’s Special Episode

Euphoria is back, baby!

As previously promised, the teen drama will be airing two special episodes this December that will “bridge the gap” between the first and second seasons, since production on the show has been delayed due to COVID-19.

HBO has now released its official trailer for the first of the two episodes. It opens with a scene of Rue (played by Emmy-winning actress Zendaya) sitting at a diner alone and wrestling with her thoughts.

Her voice can be heard in an echo-y voiceover: “What if we just go to the city? What if we just f*cking left?” The trailer then flashes to clips of the night that she and Jules (Hunter Schaefer) decided to go to the train station and skip town. Another voiceover comes in: “Maybe I deserve it,” she says.

Euphoria Is Breaking the Rules of the Queer Teen Love Story

The friendshup-cum-relationship between Rue and Jules is a queer dream that refuses to be defined.

In the final seconds of the trailer, it’s revealed that Rue is actually at the diner meeting up with Ali, a friendly stranger whom she previously met at an addiction support group.

Though there’s little information about what the second episode might entail or when it will arrive, Zendaya confirmed on social media that she and Schaefer will appear in both special episodes.

According to Deadline, the episode is entitled “Trouble Don’t Last Always” (though it’s also being referred to as “part one: rue”) and will follow Rue as she celebrates Christmas. It airs on Sunday, December 6 at 9 p.m.
