Due to the nervous nature of the eastern black rhinos, preparations for the 6 000km journey began months in advance.
Two of the animals left their home in Denmark and the UK to meet their travel companions in the Czech Republic as early as last autumn.
Before travelling, the rhinos were hugged and fed by keepers in their custom-made transportation crates.
Fewer than 1 000 eastern black rhinos remain in Africa. Conservationists hope that introducing these five to the herd will be a sustainable new generation in Rwanda.
