The Washington Football Team is signing wide receiver Robert Foster to their 53-man roster from the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad, according to Ben Standig of the Athletic.
Foster, 26, spent two seasons with the Buffalo Bills, emerging with 27 catches, 541 yards and three touchdowns as an undrafted rookie in 2018 out of Alabama. He played sparingly in 2019 as Buffalo added wide receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley. Foster appeared in three games, catching three passes for 64 yards.
He was released by the Bills during final cuts in September and signed to the Packers practice squad shortly after.
Foster is listed at 6-foot-2, 196 pounds. He ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. He’ll become the seventh former Crimson Tide player on Washington’s roster and second wide receiver along with Cam Sims.
The addition of Foster may shed some light on Washington’s wide receiver situation. Rookies Antonio Gandy-Golden and Isaiah Wright each were injured in Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants.
Gandy-Golden exited the game on the opening drive after suffering an hamstring injury. Wright was injured on Washington’s final possession of the game after taking a huge hit on a six-yard catch. It’s unclear the extent of either players’ injury.
