Washington places OT Geron Christian on injured reserve

The Washington Football team has placed left tackle Geron Christian on injured reserve with a knee injury, the team announced. Christian hasn’t played since Week 6, missing the past three games.

A third-round pick in 2018, Christian earned the starting left tackle position this season after being a swing tackle in his first two seasons. He started each of the first six games, playing every offensive snap.

Per NFL rules, Christian will have to be on IR for a minimum of three games, before he can return to the active roster. The earliest he will be eligible to return is ahead of Week 14 when Washington plays at the San Francisco 49ers.

Veteran Cornelius Lucas has started each of the three games in Christian’s place. However, Lucas suffered an ankle injury last Sunday against the Detroit Lions. He did not practice Wednesday, leaving concern of his availability for this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

If Lucas is unable to play, stalwart right tackle Morgan Moses may be moved to left tackle with David Sharpe starting at right tackle.
