Back in 2019, six-time PGA Tour winner and Titleist staffer Jimmy Walker requested a unique 64-degree wedge from Vokey Tour rep Aaron Dill. Now, through its WedgeWorks online platform, Vokey is offering a limited-edition 64-degree wedge – called a “64W” – that’s inspired by the wedge made for Walker.

“In late 2019, I received a call from Jimmy Walker curious about a 64-degree wedge,” Dill said, according to a Vokey press release. “Jimmy asked me to make something new that felt lower bounce, faster through the turf, and had more of a skid and slide feeling on the bottom. I went to work on this making a smoother sole with no grind lines and reduced the bounce. Jimmy texted me and said, ‘This wedge is a joke.’ He loved it and said it was in the bag.”

For most golfers on the planet, of course, a 60-degree lob wedge offers more than enough loft to help save them from a missed green. Anything more than 60 degrees can sometimes be detrimental, actually. For a small group of skilled golfers who play in particular conditions, though, a bit more loft can help navigate difficult greenside conditions.

“The 64W is a unique wedge made for players who play in firm conditions and golf courses with elevated greens and tricky short-sided lies,” Vokey said in a press release. “This wedge suits the player with quick hands who likes to see the ball elevate quickly – the fearless player who isn’t afraid to attack any pin.”

Although it’s not an exact replica of Walker’s wedge, the limited-edition 64W wedge comes with what the company calls a DLC (Diamond Like Coating) finish, a “64” graphic, and a medium-width sole with an effective 4 degrees of bounce. It also comes with familiar technologies found in the Vokey SM8 lineup, such as CG (center of gravity) that’s pushed forward, and Spin Milled grooves.

Vokey’s Walker-inspired 64W limited-edition wedges are currently available for $250 on the company’s website, while supplies last. Five character custom stamps and paint fills are also available.
