The Virginia Thoroughbred Project (VTP) has adopted 41 horses from the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation’s Montpelier Farm in Orange County, VA. Established in 2003, the TRF Montpelier program has retrained and rehomed dozens of retired Thoroughbred racehorses; it also provides sanctuary for horses that cannot have a viable athletic career.
VTP is led by President Sue Hart and several members of the former Montpelier Advisory Board. The 41 horses the VTP adopted have lived on the Montpelier Farm for many years; they will remain on the estate and under the care of Crystal Wever, current farm manager.
