Villa set to sign Dundee United’s Kerr Smith and make approach for Robin Olsen

Aston Villa are finally set to seal the arrival of Dundee United centre-back Kerr Smith — and they’re also waiting for an answer on goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

Smith, 17, has been on the radar for some time but a move became complicated earlier in the year when he decided to stay in Scotland.

Villa retained the interest and it’s understood the defender has now agreed to move for a substantial six-figure sum that could rise up to as much as £2 million.

Olsen could also be set for a loan switch if Sheffield United decide to terminate his current temporary arrangement from AS Roma.

Villa have already made two permanent signings this window, with Philippe Coutinho brought in on loan from Barcelona and Lucas Digne acquired from Premier League rivals Everton.

Olsen previously spent last season on loan at Everton, making seven league appearances.
