Typhoon Merbok: severe flooding cuts access to remote villages in Alaska – video


A powerful typhoon that hit the western coastline of the US over the weekend has left residents in remote villages without access to aid. Locals were without power and sustained severe water damage to their homes, prompting concerns over how they would survive the coming winter without provisions. 

On Monday, authorities made contact with residents in areas only accessible by plane to determine the need for food and water. No deaths have so far been reported but the flooding has affected 21,000 people who live along the coast
